Kings County Birding Club is a Fresh Hop IPA. Fresh hop means that the hops were kilned and dried less than 7 days from being used. Our friends, Ian and Bobby, from Kings County Brewing Collective (KCBC) joined us to select hops with us for this one. This New York State beer used hops from at Skaneateles Hop Farm in Skaneateles and Pederson's Family Farm in Stanley, and grain that was grown right here in Monroe County! Kings County Birding Club has aromas of grapefruit, orange, citrus, honey pine, bread dough, and honeysuckle.

On tap at Strangebird Brewing in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark-ish orange, clear, and golden, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells extremely bitter and earthy, with a sort of forested dirt floor sort of aroma, grapefruit and orange.
I overall enjoy this, but it’s maybe a touch too bitter, almost medicinal in that. It’s got that heavy duty earthy, bitter, and woody bitterness that I get in wet-hopped beers, but it descends into leafy and almost pinecone vibes. There’s a bit of malt sweetness, and some grapefruit pith as well.
This is medium bodied, very crisp on the finish, but with a definite heavy lingering astringency at the end of each thing.
