the latest in their rotating series of flavored goses. this one is perfect for the spring, is more lemon than basil but very natural on both, and sort of hits like a cocktail, botanical and zesty and clean, its only mildly tart, one of the rare sours i dont mind drinking from a pint glass, thats a fine dose for this. pretty bright in the glass and relatively clear for the style, a short white head from the tap that doesnt hold very long. it lemon is sharp and just as acidic as the base beer, balanced by dry earthy wheat, and enhanced by the basil, which stays light and summery without getting that oily richness and staying power like in a red sauce or something, its not that pungent, and its a great accent to this beer. there is enough grain here that this still tastes like beer, and i appreciate that, its not over flavored, not at all. these guys really have a cool series going here, and even though i didnt find this particularly salty, i do think its an excellent gose and the added flavors really jive and enhance it. looking forward to seeing what other versions of this they come up with, both ive had have been great so far!
