Dva Kohouti

I visited Dva Kohouti last night to check out one of the more “American-style” craft breweries in Prague. Unlike a lot of other breweries in the city, Dva Kohouti is not a restaurant and makes more than 2 kinds of beer. There were 10 beers on tap when I visited: 3 pale lagers / pilsners, an IPL, gose, two pale ales, two IPAs, and a schwarzbier. I had a pale lager and the IPL and they were both really good.

The space is like an old storeroom, with mottled concrete and graffiti and stainless steel inside, but also several big communal tables and with the entire brewhouse and all its tanks right there in the room with you. So, like, industrial-meets-gathering-place: I dig it. There’s no place to sit at the bar, you just order and they put your beer on the bar; it’s really streamlined for big crowds. Outside the taproom is a big outdoor beer garden area, which was surprisingly full for a chilly November night. They don’t have a kitchen of their own, but there’s food nearby the courtyard. Dva Kohouti is definitely worth checking out if you’re in Prague.
