Two Locals Brewing Co. "Beer Mug Pasta Shapes"
16 fl. oz. can; "CANNED ON" date is illegible
Notes via stream of consciousness: I added this beer to the BeerAdvocate data base as a "Bohemian / Czech Pilsner" simply because there's no option to add an Italian-style lager, which is what it is. Personally I'm still not sold on the validity of the Italian Pilsner style based on my experience but I'm always willing to be wrong when shown the light. It's poured a hazy straw gold body beneath a thumb's width of white foam. It's clearly a dry hopped beer with an unusual hoppy character that I'll assume is coming from the Sterling hops. It's spicy, herbal, floral, and grassy. On to the taste... well the grassiness is clearly from Pilsner malt, and I think it's safe to say that they've used 100%. It's a high quality malt as well. The hops remain floral, more so than the aroma suggests, herbal like soft sage and tarragon, and delicately spicy. They work really well within the lightly sweet, grainy and grassy malt. There's also a very delicate fruitiness that's similar to a dried out apple. The bitterness is moderate to median and once a dollop of sweet malt passes in the finish it dries out with some herbal, grassy, and spicy character lingering. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp as might be expected. The head held up very well, and the lacing is more than decent but I think I have to dock it some points for the haziness. In the end I love Beer Mug Pasta Shapes, but I mean the beer, not the actual pasta ~ if you see them in Lidl or some other store just ignore it, it's horrible stuff that's not even worthy of powder-packet Mac & Cheese.
