the most generic and lackluster of the four beers i got to have in here this weekend, not bad at all, just samey and unexciting, not overly well refined either. just a little hazy to it, which is always weird in an amber to me, but a nice head from the tap and a nutty, fairly dry aroma for its richer brick red color. there is a sort of kilned malt earthiness in the aroma and flavor i like, and a slight yeast element too, which i enjoy in a beer like this. it doesnt have the caramelized concentrated sugary malt character a lot of these have, so it seems more drinkable and refreshing on a warm day than i thought it might, but it still feels a little weighty and like it could stand to be cleaned up a bit. no real peaks or valleys here, rise or fall, its not quite monotonous, but it doesnt evolve on the palate much either, simple beer, appropriate, malt driven, very basic, a touch amateurish overall, but not bad. they are making some really nice beers in here now under the new loose screw name, and while this was fine, it wasnt at the level of the others we had. they hoppy stuff is where its at in here right now!

Draft at the taproom. Dark, clear amber, thin head leaves solid lacing. Malty aroma, light. Taste features much more robust flavors, but ends abruptly with an out of place bitter bite.
