a new hazy from these guys, good to see some new flavors on this list this time though. you either love this or you hate it, as its got a pretty yeasty profile, phenolic and bubblegum-like, no attempt to be belgian or anything, so i see this as an error, and one that is common across a lot of their hoppy stuff these days, not sure if they are just being fermented too warm or what, but its a shame, because the rest of this is quite promising. the body is light for a hazy, its pretty well cleaned up, cloudy without being milky or thick, a light peach colored glow to it, and its wonderfully well carbonated and frothy headed. i also like it being this low alcohol and light on grain, its soft feeling but not watery or too minimal, the build is solid. i also dig the hop profile, definitely some unique varietals at play here, this goes way beyond the all too common and easy citra and mosaic realm, its got stone fruit and a bright botanical complexion, a little soapy with the fermentation profile, but still it has fresh lemon verbena, apricot, and floral honey qualities, even dill, lemongrass, and mango as well, fruity without being citrusy at all, i like it a lot. some might say this weird yeast thing accentuates that uniqueness, but i think it contradicts it. maybe its like cilantro, some like it some dont, but to me this is need of some cleaning up, and if they could do that, it would be relevant here in idaho, where we are still in need of a couple of solid reliable signature ipa types cut from the modern cloth. i wont be too hard on this one for now, i could easily drop some scores way down because of this off flavor, maybe i am overreacting, my wife dug it and its not there as much in the nose, but i sure hope they dial it in next batch, it would be a shame to waste this hop potential on a mediocre quality brew...
