16oz crowler poured into a nonic - deeper rich golden pour with some cloudiness, fluffy off-white head. Fairly sweet and dank hop-forward nose and palate with a good dose of bready malt backbone; oily grapefruit and floral, resiny grass as well. Good stuff, easy to drink honestly.

neat new ipa here done with an experimental hop and some hop oil, which takes a delicate hand to use right, and is often overdone, but they got that part right, its obviously oil, to me that format of hop introduction will always stand out and be apparent, it hits in the center of the tongue, permeates a little deeper than other formats, and has more linger, whether intended or not, its just the way the hop oil works, but they didnt overdose it and all of those spots and sensations are desirable here, the flavor is good, the oil cuts through the rest of the beer, and the hops come across as both bright and fresh, as well as pretty unique overall with the experimental variety in the mix too. i get hints of pear and green apple, canned pineapple and ripe honeydew, and a little bit of a dank first bowl hit green weedy vibe late. there is also some decent bitterness through the back half of this which i like, i think the hop side of this beer is very well thought out and executed. the rest of the beer is just okay though, its not supposed to be an east coast type but it has an unfiltered haze to it, a fine head from the tap though and not too dense. the malt is a little fuller, a honey and toast note to it, never too sweet or heavy, but its sturdy enough to support these hops, generic but at least its not caramel or anything. the ferment is what drags it down a bit, its got that same stressed estery profile a lot of their other hoppy beers have, albeit much lighter in this one than in others, it still presents as a flaw, i wish they would get this yeast dialed in a little better for these, its a total distraction from a pretty good beer otherwise, but its hard to look past. in the end though, the hops win out in this, and i like it a lot more than i dislike it, a tasteful use of the hop oil and a cool pairing with this new varietal. as always it seems with these guys, just a tweak or two away from being exceptional...
