cool hop combination here for this anniversary brew, right when they sold the place no less, strange, but its a fun beer, a little less refined than it could be, again a little strange on the ferment, almost soapy, which i find on most of their hoppy beers, not a major distraction, but a little bit of a shame given the clever mix of hops, centennial hash, simcoe, and pekko, definitely an uncommon blend, and it shows in both aroma and flavor. this is a little dense looking, starchy and maybe not quite as bubbly as it could be, but its oaty and smooth to drink, and despite the apparent heft, its not a heavy drinker. aroma of canned mandarin oranges, pressed lemongrass, and tangerine zest, super appealing, a little herbal, and supported well by a dry mixed cereal sort of mash, no sign of the strange ferment here. the flavor starts just like the nose, deliciously fruity with melon notes and even drippy ripe yellow peach, i love the hop profile, white wine too even, but then it fades into this slightly chemical finish that has been an almost house flavor in the hoppy stuff, they have to find a way to clean this up, maybe that will be part of what the new ownership does? certainly hope so, because it keeps a solid beer from being great here. some light lime on the finish with it, on the dry side, and smooth and soft to drink on, so close to being a winner, but at the same time its disappointing, it also feels like progress...
