Taster flight at Loose Screw. Very pale yellow, a bit cloudy, small frothy head. Grainy, malty aroma, crackers. Taste is biscuity, sweet, mild citrusy flavors with a dry finish.

dope name for a beer, especially one they are calling an italian pils, even though i think thats a little generous. this isnt refined as well as i tend to think of that style as being, and its not as assertively hoppy either, although its one of my favorite beers ive had from loose screw, and am glad to see some quality new ones on the menu recently. looks like pasta water, unfiltered and starchy, which is not how i know italian pils to be, but it has a frothy little white head, nice lace, and smells and tastes cleaner than it looks. the nose on this is somewhat subtle, the pale pils malt which seems lightly european, some herbal hops that seem real fresh, and a crisping mineral profile that brings it all together. the flavor is a little more robust, at least when its come up from ice cold, the hops start pretty early, at first grass and straw to them, later lime and even some earthy spicy, nice with the minerals, and the yeast becomes quite flavorful too, slightly doughy, less european to me, but influential here, and i think this is quite well lagered, even if the rest of it could still use some refinement. nice proportions, high drinkability, off dry with a little sweetness slowing the finish, but refreshing nevertheless with high carbonation. tasty stuff, great with spicy food, a solid effort.
