would love to know what hops are in this, but i like the beer a lot, its light and crisp, not super european to me in either grain or ferment, which i guess makes it more of a blonde ale than a classic kolsch in the glass, but i suppose it approximates it decently well, and with how clean and snappy and cold conditioned it obviously is, it works, and i think the grain and yeast being light in the aroma and flavor is smart in this context, it leaves room for the hops to flavor this without them having to be super robust to push through, indeed the hops are fairly delicate in this, especially as a fresh hop beer, like its hoppy for a kolsch style in terms of balance, and the hops seem obviously american not old worldy of course, but this isnt bursting with hops or anything, its mellow, reserved even, but very fresh and very good, fruity in a unique way, like notes of lychee and papaya and maybe red berries or something, but not in your face at all, well integrated, dry beer overall too, no malt sweetness extending it, this drinks quick and refreshing like a lager, well done with that side of it. it has a light but not watery body, just south of medium, and its overall quickness and cleanliness to tee up the fruity hops on the swallow is its beauty. i think understated overall, especially in the nose, but bright and botanical and new in a way thats really appealing. rushing carbonation is spot on, just a bit of grain character is smart, and i think this is quite modern and well done. innovative, you dont see a lot of kolsch treated to fresh hops, so bravo for that. my favorite beer from our night there this past weekend...
