decent german pils here, short of amazing, but plenty serviceable, i like the grain side of this flavor wise, bready and very much european, but i also found it a little bit objectively malty, not heavying really, but a little more there than i want in a beer i want to drink a bunch of, and where refreshment value is usually a chief virtue, but its not way too much, and i like the way this came together anyway, pretty well lagered, still with some back end crispness, nice noble hop finish, plenty fresh and bubbly, some crackery and grassy recall after each sip. maybe it doesnt warm up great, and like a few of theirs recently could maybe benefit from a little bit more precision, but this does its job and bonus, my wife was into it, which counts for a lit. little bit of hop spiciness on the nose, a bit more floral in the taste, malt has subtle sweetness and baked character, somewhat hearty without slowing the pace down much, i like the appreciable lager yeast flavor too. i think the bar for craft lager has really been raised over the past number of years, and where beers like this one may be solid enough in a local beer context, there is a higher level to get to, and more than a couple in the region have gotten there. still, nice to see so many new ones in here and definitely appreciate them doing it, nice with spicy food!
