a classically styled vienna lager, and a good one, nice rich copper color, high shine and clarity to it, fairly deep malt character as well, but very drinkable, expertly well refined, these guys have come a long way, they really have. love the clarity and apparent refinement, short off white lace head on top and consistent carbonation. aroma has some usual sweetness from the malt, biscuit and toast, honey and graham cracker, maple and amaretto nuance even, lager yeast is subtle but present, and there are enough hops to balance, rich and layered but also not overly complex, malt forward lager thats very professionally done, simple as that. the flavor is cozy without being quite as sweet as it smells, i think a nice spot for the style to be generally speaking, hearty grain thats a little bit autumnal to me, baked bread, light toffee, an almond note, slightly woody almost, and with the lager yeast contributing to the flavor as well as the texture in the second half, drying this out a bit, highly drinkable for being as malty as it is, again a proper hallmark of the style when done well. light herbal hops, old worldy, the whole thing nice and fresh, medium bodied made lighter with the lager texture, opens up a bit as it warms, quite nutty really, never too sweet, pleasant sipper and one the should think about keeping in the full time lineup, easy without being in any way boring...
