Our next interpretation of a post-modern West Coast Style IPA with a twist. We took the base of our ‚Mind Playing Tricks’ and switched the hop varieties. Kettle- & even more dry-hopped with Citra Cryo, backuped by very fresh german Hallertauer Amarillo & Chinook. This time we dry-hopped in still active fermentation to get a bit of that fancy haze to a piney yet juicy, crisp & bitter-slapping IPA fermented with a blend of a traditional west coast yeast and a juicy ale strain for a smooth fruit-driven twist.

Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of tangerine, mango and just a hint of pine. Taste is an excellent balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, herbal, slightly floral and resinous hops, with strong citrus and lighter tropical notes of tangerine mango and pineapple, as well as some lemongrass and pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some tangerine, mango and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This is a very nice West Coast/New England hybrid IPA that is a bit more on the WC than the NE side than these brews usually go. KInda more like a somewhat juicy WCIPA rather than a somewhat bitter and resinous NEIPA. It's quite zesty and bitter, with a focus on the citrus and herbal notes, with lighter tropical and resinous accents. While I can quite enjoy a beer like this, why does it always have to be a compromise? I really do appreciate German breweries moving more towards the West Coast style of late, but why not make a proper one for a change? Not everything needs to be juicy, you know. Still, this makes for a very nice change of pace from the endless typical NEIPAs that is well-balanced and works very well for what it is. Great name as well, I can always appreciate a Radiohead reference.
