4 months old. Bottle to tumbler.
Look: Pours an almost black, dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates quickly. A few floaters are visible.
Smell: Chocolate. Vanilla. Chili. Tequila.
Taste: Chocolate and vanilla followed by a subtle chili heat and a bitter coffee-like finish.
Feel: Low carbonation, but unfortunately a bit thin.
Overall: I already liked the base beer and was really looking forward to the barrel aged version. Great idea to age it in tequila barrels. Unfortunately there are some flaws that keep it from being top class. For one thing, it’s a bit thin and apart from that, the tequila barrel could be more present in the beer’s taste. However, this is still a great beer which is still superior to the majority of German stouts.
