This is a bit of a strange Pilsner, at least to me. Looks very impressive, with solid head retention, although it's a touch dark for the style (although darker pilsners certainly exist).
The nose backs up the strangeness: there's very little going on, and I get a decent amount of caramel grain.
On the palate, the weirdness continues, as it's very grainy and quite toasty. I don't get any inimitable pilsner malt; instead, it tastes like a caramel malt lager. The hop balance is dialed in, with just enough bitterness for the style, and the drinkability is excellent.
This is an interesting take, but I don't know what makes it a pilsner instead of an American lager. The malt base doesn't match what I expected at all, but I definitely enjoyed it. I don't know that it occupies a niche that I really seek out, somewhat in between styles, so I might not revisit it, but I enjoyed the beer in my glass and wouldn't turn it down.
