The third stop on the Aufsess Brewery Trail, maybe 12km into the hike. Walking is slower, beer is longer, and notes are shorter! We had this one in September 2023.
L: Dark, mahogany brown. Thin, Mocha-coloured head. No carbonation is seen in the glass.
S: Very neutral with maybe some slight umami richness in there.
T: Roasty, umami, beefy richness as predicted by the nose. Mild bitterness. Dry, bitter finish.
M: Mild and full.
O: A nice dark and roasty counterpoint to the usual Helles lagers on the brewery trail.
Cheers!

Brauerei Kathi Bräu "Dunkles Lagerbier"
on tap at the brewery on 16.09.2017
Notes: Slightly hazy, dark amber to mahogany brown body with golden, orange, and crimson highlights. Aroma of darkly caramelish malt. The flavor delivers that caramel with a combination of golden caramel and darker caramel, as well as a suggestion of toastiness. It's floral, gently spicy, and has a touch of apple to round it out. Balanced by a median bitterness, it finishes fairly short and dry with some caramel and apple quickly passing. Medium bodied and crisp.
