This is a re-worked version of an APA called "the Glenbrook." I'm not sure how the recipe has changed and nothing on the website gives any indication. The name is more evocative as our county in named for Lewis Morris. I had it on draught at the brewery, served in a pint glass. It pours a hazy, golden-orange with a creamy, milk-white had and very thick lacing inside the glass. The smell is a bit disappointing with only subtle notes of lemon peel and malt. Its taste is citrus-forward with lemon, grapefruit, and orange zest over a solid cracker malt base. Cascade is a classic hop for Pale Ales and it provides clean bitterness throughout. As the ale warms, I'm noticing more malt sweetness. The ale has a full-bodied mouth feel with solid carbonation, and it drinks easily at 5.6% You can easily drink another. Overall, while Lewis Morris Exploration Ale doesn't challenge the leaders of the style, it's a solid, local American Pale Ale other than it's subdued smell. It's a good base for the brewery to tinker with and improve.
