Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a clean, clear, rosy-orange color with a thin, ecru-colored cap and abundant, clinging lacing. The smell is great with bold cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg over a base of sweet malt. Neither the brewery's notes nor the Untappd reviews indicate that pumpkin was used in the boil and I don't detect the presence of pumpkin flesh but the pie spicing is appropriate. In particular I'm tasting a lot of nutmeg. As the ale warms there are faint notes of sweet malt and chocolate. This ale is crisp in feel with lively carbonation, and very drinkable at 5.5% ABV. Overall, Jockey Hollow is a very good example of a "pie spice" Pumpkin Ale. I enjoyed it on a cool, blustery, late October day and wouldn't hesitate to drink it again.
