Copenhagen 14/5 2020. 50 cl bottle from Supervin.dk. Drawing of quite drunk Christmas Elf swinging a mug of beer on the label. 2017 batch.
Pours murky amber with a small, bubbly off-white head. Sediments whirling about. Settles as thin, gradually diminishing patch of foam. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense and sweet, sugary and with a heavy dose of Christmas spices. Sweet malts, syrup, brown sugar. Licorice, star anise, cloves, cardamom.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, grass, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong, herbal, spicy bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and heavily made cup for Christmas. Lingers for a while.
Quite heavy on the Christmas spices and with a solid sweetness to drive the point in. A bit of bitterness lights it up - but it is a losing battle. You really have to be addicted to Christmas to appreciate this beer.
