Appearance: Clear Deep Dark brown with ruby highlights, frothy off-white head with moderate retention.
Aroma: Rich, malty aroma with dark fruit & grape notes
Flavor: Malty with caramel, toffee and toast. Dark fruit notes. Sweet but not cloying.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, low carbonation. Finish is sweet and moderate. Alcohol has a notable bit at the end but not offensive. Low level of bitterness.
Overall: 16.9 oz bottle of 2021 vintage. Pours to a beautiful clear, deep dark brown with noticeable ruby highlights throughout. Malt forward aroma with layered complexity. Shows caramel, toffee, and toasted bread. Dark fruit and grape like notes throughout the aroma. Flavor is close to aroma. Nice complex malt base with low level of bitterness. Runs right up close to being too sweet, but stops short. Alcohol is hidden right up to the finish where it peaks out with a slow warming sensation but it is not offensively boozy. This is a very nice effort by a one year old, small brewery. Nice for sipping on a cool fall or winter evening.
