Got this as a growler at Half Time

Presentation - Poured into River Horse Pint glass

Appearance - Clear Golden colour with white fizzy head and little lacing

Smell - A mixture of hops and sugar, a little bit of citrus comes to mind

Taste - A bit of biscuits and caramel round out this brew

Mouthfeel - Light to medium, crisp

Drinkability - Very sessionable

Overall - A basic beer for the summer, not too complicated, but multidimensional enough for any German-style beer lover to appreciate.

On-tap @ High Point Brewing Co. in Butler, NJ.

Poured into a 12 oz mug. Pale gold in color with a frothy white head that has good retention. Excellent clarity.

Fresh, bready malt aroma with some grassy noble hops in the mix. There is a nice depth to the malt here that is very pleasant. The flavor is clean, slightly sweet malt with a firm bitterness on the back end. A little surprised at the bitterness but it is not unbalanced, nor does it bring the beer into Pilsner territory.

Medium-light bodied with lively carbonation. The beer is effervescent and refreshing. Remarkably easy to drink.

This is one, if not the best, Ramstein beers I've had. They should really consider packaging this and adding it to the distribution lineup. I can't go to the brewery and NOT get one of these each time.

I live down the street from High Point (about a 10 minute walk from it) so me and my housemates go every second saturday of the month for the free tours. Good beer and good people at High Point, highly recommend going.

The Golden Lager is a very good beer thats nice and easy to drink that refreshes the pallet. I've never seen it in liquor any liquor stores but I have had it on multiple occasions out of the tap at the brewery. Definately worth trying especially if you're in the Butler area (which i don't know why you would be).

Also on a side note, the unfiltered version is pretty much a completely different beer, almost too sweet.

Sample at the brewery. Golden hue with a sweet, malty taste while hops provide some balance. Light, slightly crisp body. Clean finish consist of mostly biscuit malt with hops kick in at the end. Couple more IBUs and this would be an excellent helles.

Into a pint glass, it poured a transparent straw/gold; heavily carbonated, two fingers of bright white, and great head retention and lacing. Smelled of herbal noble hops and malt; maybe a little grassiness too. The taste revealed a more robust balance in the way of herbal vs malt essence, and a very crisp dry finish. On the thin side and very carbonated. A very refreshing, highly sessionable beer. If they would only bottle/can this stuff, it would undoubtedly appeal to the lame mainstream crowd.

On-tap at the Farmhouse. Appears a clear, golden yellow with a white head in my pint glass.

I'm always a fan of good session beers and this certainly fits the bill at 3.9% alcohol. This is a clean, hoppy lager that might fit better in a German pils or keller category. Regardless of style, it comes with a mouthfull of grassy, herbal hops and a mellow, balancing bready backbone. Very very drinkable and tasty. I don't know, it kind of reminds me of an extra pale ale. I'm not sure what style this brew falls into, but in my book it's tasty.

Pours hazy soft yellow with a thin bubbly white head.

The smell is of doughy yeast, slight banana and mango-like fruitiness, some graininess - something near like smelling the wort.

The taste is of doughy yeast - a bit towards "homebrew-esque". Sweet overall, with some sour and herbal notes. Crisp finish, which could be a bit cleaner for a lager.

Appropriately light-bodied with a nice, soft carbonation.

An easy-going lager, though something "unfinished" about it. Nice enough over all, generally inoffensive, but glad to have shared it with a friend after bringing it back from the brewery.

Growler hand filled at the brewery. Draft only at the moment.

A pale gold body, topped by a tight bubbly white head. Very classic appearance. Head breaks down a bit rapidly, but could be due to the growler seal. Nose features a lot of fresh grass. Taste is clean and refreshing, a smooth malt surge across the tongue, perfectly balanced but not enveloped by a low profile hop jacket. There is a solid malty core to this beer, with an easy going outer shell, like a Tootsie Pop. Finishes clean. Surprisingly substantial for the style in the mouth. This is a beer which can disappear in a hurry. A nice rendition, suitable all year round, if available. Could easily see using a sixtel of this at a family party as a crossover to please both myself and the Bud drinkers. Highly recommended.

High Point's Golden Lager is one of their newer offerings. It's supposedly based on Trap Rock's award-winning Helles recipe. Unfortunately, it is currently only available on draught.

Appearance: This is a beautiful, golden-colored (obviously) beer. The color is surprising in its richness, as this a low ABV beer, that almost borders on "light." Generated a respectable head that slowly decays to a light film.

Smell: Again, the depth of its rich, toasted-bread, aroma surprises. The maltiness is buoyed by an ample hop prickle on the nose.

Taste: The good malty flavor is backed by a crisp, spicy, hoppiness that makes this very refreshing. A full-flavored, well-balanced thirst quencher.

Mouthfeel: This exhibited vigorous, but not unpleasant carbonation, especially for a draught beer. I could do with a bit less, but I think I'm overly sensitive to carbonation levels. As expected for a moderate- to medium-bodied lager with a low ABV, this offers a short, balanced finish.

Drinkability: This is off-the-charts for drinkability. This is a beer that deserves attention for its well-crafted, easy-drinking, ability to satisfy. A great session lager or "lawn-mower" beer.

Backwash: I'm surprised this hadn't been added to the database before this. This is one of the best beers for answering the forum questions about good beers to "convert" non-BA's and non-extreme beers that are under-rated or forgotten. I don't know all of the nutritional stats, but this packs a lot of flavor in a 3.9% ABV package that certainly tastes great and is less filling. This is the beer that Budweiser, Miller, and Coors should be trying to make!
