A: Pours an opaque yet still clear medium chestnut brown in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate amber + cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall creamy sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of toasted + lightly roasted + nutty + slightly spicy rye malts with a light to moderate amount of honey sweetness. Light aromas of spicy + grassy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of toasted + lightly roasted + nutty + slightly spicy rye malts with a light to moderate amount of honey sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of spicy + grassy hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which slowly fades away leaving lingering rye spiciness + light roasted malt flavors.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth, almost creamy (reminiscent of nitro).
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a surprisingly smooth + creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a pleasant addition of rye spiciness and honey sweetness. Glad I grabbed this one at Tamarack when stopping along the drive from NC to Louisville.
