This was easily the best beer I had in 11 days in Costa Rica. After 8 days and 20-22 different beers I had given up hope on this country’s beer. I discovered this at El Mercadito outdoor food court and bar in Tamarindo. It was very drinkable on a hot and humid afternoon. I could easily see myself putting down 3-4 of these in a sitting but chose to spread that out over a few meals. It paired well with tacos, pizza, and burger. Really drinkable beer that I’d take over a lot of the tropical craft in So. Cal.

Bottle at Green Papaya in Tamarindo CR. Pours a clear medium gold with a persistent off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is clean citrus, pineapple, mango, and a hint of pine. Mouthfeel is quite substantial for a 6.2% tropical beer. Finish fades to slightly sweet citrus. Overall, this is one of the two best beers in Tamarindo.

Bought and consumed in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Poured from an attractive 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: The beer is a clear gold color with a frothy off-white head that leaps up and has good retention.
S: Tropical indeed with hints of pineapple and mango. Also lots of citrus peel and a slight sweet note on the end. Very fruity and inviting in the heat.
T: Big hop flavor. Fruit is more subdued. Malt profile is also subdued. Emphasis here is on the tropical flavored hops with notes of pineapple but also grapefruit and citrus peels.
F: The beer is surprisingly thin and doesn't have a ton of carbonation or body. This could be for easy beach drinking, but I would have preferred a bit more here.
Overall: A solid offering in Costa Rica. Leaves a bit to be desired when looking at some aspects, but comes together in a satisfying way. I'd seek this one out when in this area again.
