a real fine example of the style here, jusyt my second radix beer but i can already say they are onto it, really have a good thing going. this is cool on so many levels. it seems to me a little richer and maltier than other takes on the style ive had, past amber to light brown in color, frothy headed from the bottle, just off white, great retention, lots of bubbles, and just a little cloudiness to the beer. the nose is striking, its a mixed culture beer and seems really wild to me, tart and bacterial yeah, but funky too, even a little iodine medicinal almost lambic character, mature for sure, bitter citrus peel, black tea, and raisin are also swirling. from the grain i get a deep toasted chestnut and dry cocoa layer, a little tree bark thing, minerals, oak, some red wine tannins even, and of course a beautiful juniper and spruce profile that gives freshness to this, a prickle of alcohol there too, light long boiled sweetness, very dynamic and definitely fermentation driven. the flavor is awesome, its everything i can smell and then some, fresh pine bough character up front, fig and date richness, light smoke, musky wood, birch syrup, good gin, some herbal hops, perhaps even aged hops, and some wonderful bretty funk along with piercing acidity, its complex but then its clean, its fast finishing for being malty, and to me tastes like the essence of the late fall, pine needles, dark bread, cozy almost nostalgic to me. really nice job with the ferment, i love the fuller malt, and overall this is downright impressive. curious to see how this one ages!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a small white head. Smells of sour fruit, berries and some wine grape notes. Tastes of sour fruit, mainly berries and wine grape, but with a nice woody and earthy notes as well. Beer is medium bodied yet easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.
