Spontaneously-fermented dark ale aged on Wisconsin grown Petite Pearl red wine grapes. This beer is quite acidic with aromas of freshly crushed grapes and dark malt character.

this is insane, small doses kind of thing, but really well done, as all of radix beers have been so far, running quite sour, but really complex at the same time, i was happy to be sharing but also came away extremely impressed. spontaneous dark ale with petite pearl wine grapes, a real interesting mix of flavors here. its pretty darn dark, short of black but not by much, a little bit fizzy but not holding its head very long. the nose is awesome, sharp and puckery right away but also sweet from the fruit, more fresh crushed grapes than finished wine to me, and distinctive, light in some way respects, like more pinot-esque, even though i know nothing about this fruit. licorice and chewing tobacco notes in a good way, smoke and permanent marker, some intensity to the grain here, lots of specialty dark stuff i reckon. hints of cranberry and cola too, weird but appealing even with all the acid. the flavor is cool, for how dark it is its fruity the whole way, and for sour it is, its also got some wild funk which is what i was hoping for, although this is perhaps too sour to drink a whole lot of. dark leather, cigar, raisin, raw cocoa, and purple grape candy as it warms, some rich fortified wine type notes from the fruit too, darker now than they smell. light oak tannins to me, dried blueberries, coffee, and char. this is really strange but i dig it. tons of body and palate coating and sharp at the same time. epic label art on this one, really fun experimental type thing, and a tasty and memorable offering unlike any other ive had...
