Dosed with double the amount of Citra as our standard Finch and Thistle, this DDH version presents with a saturated hop aroma of orange sherbet, peaches, and mango juice with undertones of pineapple and subtle stone fruit, like sticking your nose in a freshly emptied bag of Citra hops! Each sip welcomes more citrus and gobs of papaya, melon, and subtle strawberry notes, accompanied by soft wheat malt and a moderate, pleasant bitterness.

No canned on date. Half of the 16 oz can into my BA 25th Anniversary teku - hell yeah!! - and half into Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Moderately hazy gold with two finger, frothy white head with good retention and thick bands of lacing.

S: it is interesting how glassware makes a difference. Aroma from the teku or more grapefruit pit and green fruit while the perfect pint provides more juicy orange, pineapple, and red grapefruit aromas. Esters are at least moderate and fruity

T: The flavor is also more satisfying from the perfect pint with more juicy orange, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, and less lemony notes. I wish the esters were a little damp and as they do compete with the hop aroma and flavor. Bitterness is low. I poured the rest of the beer from the teku into the perfect pint glass.

M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation and slightly thin on finish.

O: Finch & Thistle is a very good example of the NEIPA style with plenty of citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavors. I wonder if they tried a slightly less ester-heavy yeast if this would allow more hop aroma and flavor to be unmasked.

On tap at Belleflower Brewing in Portland, ME.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells fairly mango forward, with orange creamsicle, pineapple, and some light bitterness.

This is definitely exactly what you want from the style, with lots of stone fruit and tropical fruit – mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, all that sort of stuff. There’s a pleasant and unobtrusive bitterness on the finish.

This is quite juicy but finishes dry and cleanly, without a ton of sweetness. It’s very drinkable.

This was quite enjoyable – Belleflower definitely does some of the better IPAs in New England.

16oz undated can.

Pours cloudy yellow with an inch of white head. Moderate retention and lacing. Candied peach and orange in the nose. Medium bodied with a thinnish mouthfeel. Peach and tangerine on the palate with minimal malt or bitterness. Finishes sweet and juicy.

A: Pours a hazy yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves decent lacing

S: Loads of citrus up front along with a touch of tropical fruit, stone fruit, and wheat

T: Follows the nose. A huge citrus wave from the get-go, followed by a touch of the wheat, stone fruit, and tropical fruit. Some light melon present as well. Moderate bitterness. Finishes with lingering citrus and wheat

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. On the softer side thanks to the flaked oats

O: A great DDH version of F&T that really loads up on the Citra. Super easy to drink. Definitely worth checking out
