Had on-tap at Movement Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up 10oz into a small snifter, black with cola brown wrong where light can penetrate. Mostly barren surface, with a razor thin, broken ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing, save a spot or two.
Smell - Very syrupy aroma. Lesser coffee. Hints of nut and vanilla.
Taste - Sweeter than even the nose found. Cloying sugary sweetness, with a touch of coffee ground bitterness. Hints of nut and a trace of vanilla peek through, bit mostly it's syrupy sweet from start to finish.
Mouthfeel - Full in body with low carbonation. Sticky and syrupy. Dry finish.
Overall - This is a young brewery finding their wings, and they definitely stumbled on this pastry stout attempt. Their hazy was solid. I've seen new breweries bounce back form worse.
