Travois Golden Ale is crystal clear and a rich amber color. The head is rocky, bone white, and has pretty fair retention.
The first thing I notice is the aroma of soda crackers and biscuits combined with what smells to me like honey. The center is rounded and generically sweet with no readily noticeable fruit esters. There may be just a trace of sulfur, but if there, it's pretty faint. The finish is very gentle in its hoppiness, giving me just a faint whiff of peppery European hops.
On the tongue, Travois Golden Ale is smooth, rounded and medium in body. Flavors of soda cracker and a honey-ish sweetness lead the charge before moving into a generically ripe, citrus juiciness. Juicy center also has a flavor that reminds me of ripe peaches, which combines nicely with the more generic citrus notes. The finish is crisp, dry, and gentle in its bitterness.
It's a decent enough beer; rounded, smooth, refreshing. There are definitely some pleasant qualities as far as flavor goes. As pleasant as I find it overall, the beer just doesn't come together in a way that jumps out at me. Good beer, if not flat out outstanding.
