Very dark brown, beautiful cappuccino colored foam.
The smell is deinitely malty, efinitely doppelbock, definitely full.
Dried fruits, almond, nut, light toasted, biscuit.
Classic taste, too, malty, again dried fruit, even dried figs.
Something green and herbal in the back.
Strong, without compromisesm intense and full. And good.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.4%. Dark reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, molasses, brown bread, grain and dust. Malty flavour, medium sweet but not too much, caramel and brown bread again, minimal hops. Okay, but not brilliant.

Catch up rating from notes, 2012: .5l bottle from Wasana's. Nice dark amber pour, small creamy beige head, streaky, clumpy lacing. Looks great! Aroma is caramelly malts, brown bread, toffee, prunes. Taste follows the aroma, deep and rich, sweet and heady, hints of alcohol add some warmth. Thick, sweet, tasty.

Klosterbrauerei Scheyern "Poculator"
,5L brown glass bottle coded "Mindestens Haltber Bis 29.06.18 17:02". Sampled on 22 September 2017.
€4,20 @ Hofbrau Bamberg, Bamberg, DE
Notes: Crystal clear ruby colored body beneath one finger's width of creamy khaki colored foam. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma suggests dark caramel, brown sugar, a hint of dark chocolate, some very light roastiness, red grape, and red berries. The flavor follows with some additional dark fruit (raisin, fig) and a light bit of herbal hops. A firm bitterness balances it. The alcohol never shows. It finishes with lingering dark fruit and medium caramel lingering. In the mouth it's medium-full in body and smooth with a fine-bubbled, median carbonation.

De Labirratorium. En copa Bavaria de hefe. Estudiando. Nada más abrirla saluda un delicioso aroma maltoso que en boca no decepciona, animando a tragos más largos de lo aconsejable por su abv y llenando plena mente la boca con todo un cuerpazo.

Pours a clear copper brown color with a huge top of beige head that dissolves slowly and leaves some sticky lacings in the glass.
Aroma is dark malts, dark bread, nuts, raisins and caramel. The taste is sweet and roasted with notes of bread, nuts and dried fruits. It has a nice ballance between the sweet and malty notes. Finish has some slight bitterness and leaves a long aftertaste.
Soft and creamy mouthfeel with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A very nice and enjoyable doppelbock.

'Poculator' is the largest and most prominent word that appears on both the main, neck and rear lables but I've yet to figure out what it means.
L- Deep ruby chestnut, clear (no sludge in bottle either). Pours with 1Cm tan fine-bubble head.
S- Deeply roasty/toasty.
T- Quite rich, deep puddingy into further deep toasty malts. Then there's a rather fortified %ABV zing in it's tail. I've a mild winter cold, I expect folks without congestion should detect a lot more from this one than I can today.
F- Carbonation is holding ok in the glass, and remains good in the mouth. It's a pretty meaty beer but has a very good balance.
O- Perhaps ideal for winter and Xmas. Rich, forthright flavour and presence with enough hops and CO2 in the mouth to balance out. Zero out of place. Yes I'd happily buy this again.
