This beer is dubbed a "Klosterpils" by the brewery and has the appearance typical for the Pilsener style, with a somewhat small head.
The smell is lovely and quite full: both spicy and sweet from the malt, with some fruity notes and a very mild trace of hops. A soft shade of graininess and a sour twist are on the side.
The taste is heavy on the malt and rather sweet. Towards the finish other flavours start to appear, ranging from a weak herbal quality, some delicate salty touches, a buttery taste, a fair deal of bitterness and a slight burn of alcohol to finish it off. A clean aftertaste with a hoppy bitterness lingering.
A body just over medium with a chewy mouthfeel and low carbonation.
This beer seems just as close to a Helles as a Pilsener to me. A very enjoyable and nutritious brew though.
