I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a snifter.
Appearance: very dark brown with an opaque body and a thin layer of ivory foam atop. Looks nice.
Smell: a little sweet, caramelly, a bit roasty; even a little chocolate comes through. Not bad at all.
Taste: caramel malt, a bit of sweetness, and a hint of astringent roastiness. Not quite as nicely complex as the aroma.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: there’s just a little something off balance in the flavor for me. It’s not a bad beer, really, but not my favorite.
