this is pretty rough, very amateur, the ferment is whack, and for such a basic style, a failure on this level is highly problematic, surprised they can get away with this and still be open, but the space is cool, the food looked appealing, and i guess they have a full bar so there are other options, but this was the worst of the two i had in here, and the other one wasnt great. its just chemical, improper in the fermentation, despite having a decently robust hop profile and some fine malt balance, its just not enough to overcome the lack of technical execution, hate leaving an unfinished pint on a bar top, but i had to with this one. brassy color to it, short of orange but deeper than golden, clearish with a standard white head of popping bubbles on top slowly relaxing, looks just fine. aroma is a bit chemical to me, stressed yeast performing poorly, a cleaner or solution type off flavor, some malt sweetness and piney hops too, even some hop spice, and it seems relatively fresh and all, there are things to like, but its just not right, and the flavor agrees, plenty hoppy, almost to an ipa level with some bitter grapefruit pithy character and spruce in the hop complexion, but a sharpness and even phenolic note in the back half is impossible to overlook, and it lingers with the bitterness through the finish. there is some malt sweetness to soften the weirdness, but its too late, and this one is a write off, worse and worse as it sits, a sort of cumulative effect on the palate. some quality issues to work out with this for sure, disappointing.
