a really good german pale lager with some obvious old world lager yeast character and more hops than are common in these, i think a smart recipe, and a little bit of smart innovation in a style space that doesnt always permit much of that, i think this is respectful but also unique, so well done, i like this place. very blonde beer, crystal clear from the tap at the brewery, not the richer golden tones we generally see in helles, this looks more pils-like, super pale. very tidy. the nose has an herbal hop lean, noble type to me, but with both mild citrus and grassiness together, very fresh, and at least as impactful to the aroma as the malt, which is drier than most, nice german lager yeast there as well keeping it classic, very professional refinement on this. love the lightness and crispness of texture at the same time that this is also very full flavored, the hops arent all late, they add an uplifting freshness and indeed more bitterness than is found in most helles types, especially here where there isnt much middle malt sweetness in play either. nice lagering, herbal and even kind of summery, a nice morning beer, and overall another really solid one from hudl, who does an awful lot of things well. a touch american in its proportions, but the best of both worlds really, very nice.

7/17/25 - (HUDL Brewery) (Las Vegas, Nevada) Brewery Notes: $3.69 w tax and NV Passport Discount @16 oz draft pour, 5.0% ABV, Helles.

Appearance: 16 oz draft in a flute glass pour yields a clear straw colored base, bright white head and generous thin lacing which also covers about half the base. 4.25

Aroma: Nice bread and pepper cracker aroma. Medium plus strength and enjoyment. 3.75

Taste: Consistent with the above, bread and cracker, salt and pepper backed along with slight honey. Very nice. 4.0

Mouthfeel: Slight sustained somewhat gentle carbonation, drinks light and easy. Hops and malt deliver a balanced offering, honey cracker finish. 4.0

Overall: This is I believe my favorite HUDL offering to date. A good Helles with expected flavor, balance and execution. Well done HUDL. 4.0
