a solid festbier, these guys are doing some nice lagers at the moment. this one is sort of a hybrid marzen to me, like it has a little more of the color and grain richness than a lot of the festbiers have had in recent years, like this isnt quite so pale and light, a little more character built into it, while still being decidedly mellower than most marzen types, which i think is a nice place for this to be, especially as we get a bit later in the season here. shiny copper colored beer with nice clarity and a short off white head, looks marzen adjacent anyway. the aroma is lightly nutty but also drier than it looks, and than beer generally is at this color, german lager yeast and a graham cracker note, minimal in a pleasing way, agricultural and harvest timey, old worldy and fresh. the flavor is similar, malt driven but understated and very well lagered right away to me, honey nut cheerio and light toast, a subtle wood and toffee thing as well, but not sweet in a way that slows this down any, more depth than i could smell but still clean, baked but not overly hearty, this is easygoing beer, with less body than most but not thin in any way. approaching crisp on the swallow, maybe a tad light on carbonation, but overall a nice middle ground approach to this and something that i think works in just about any season. no frills, none needed, solid.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
