Cask 1/3 pint at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019. ABV 6.0%. Nearly black colour. Vinous, oaky and slightly nutty aroma and flavour, some liquorice in the finish.

#1794 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country...
L- Superficially black, but held to a halogen lamp it's a super-deep ruby red. Pours clear with a 5mm khaki foam cap.
S- Toasty, deep, log ashes, fireplaces.
T- Toasty, roasty, deep, that first mouthful and you're off on a journey...
F- As pungent as the taste is the feel seems rather light as back-up. That leaves it strongly flavoured yet relatively a bit stark on the palate, there isn't an unctious rich feel coming your palates way...
O- Mega-flavoured and in a good way but the body is relatively too light to carry it off. At this price level I'd hope for better alignment of taste vs feel.
750ml corked/caged bottle hand-written £9.25 BB: Jan-2026[?] Lot 1850. Bought from BeautifulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
