Not a big fan of straight Porters or Stouts but this one is decent as all the beers from this brewery seem to be. What makes this one better than most is the lack of coffee flavor.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a one finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, mild coffee and a hint of lactose. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt with light char, cocoa and drip coffee. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A pleasant, well made porter. The profile was more English than American, so I checked the brewery website and they call this an English porter and a nice domestic take on the style. Chocolate and light coffee up front and more roasty char smoke in the finish. Nicely done.
