I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a straight-sided glass.
Appearance: medium brown hue with a little bit of haze and a finger of creamy tan foam. Nice!
Smell: rather smoky but also a little bit sweet and caramelly. I rather like it.
Taste: a bit of caramel and chocolate malt come through, but the smoke is the story here for sure. It adds an astringency that I think works. I enjoy the smoke but it may be a bit much for some palates.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: frankly I like to see any craft brewery trying their hand at a little smoke. For me, this beer is a success, although I admit its audience might be limited.
