A collaboration lager brewed to commemorate the re-opening of the road between Balcones Distilling and the Dancing Bear Pub. When the 12th St. bridge was closed for the expansion/widening of I-35, it was as if the Pub and the Distillery moved 3 miles further apart. (That's a long distance in Waco.) Now that the underpass is (almost) open, we're (almost) re-united and sharing a pint of lager in celebration. The "11.5" in the name is a bit of a play on the roads that the bridge historically connected (11th and 12th St.) and corresponds to the strength (in plato) of the beer which is 11.5 degrees plato of "original gravity." We then hopped this Pilz with Czech Kazbek and Saaz, as well as Hallertau Tradition and a tiny amount of South African Southern Passion for a little extra razzle-dazzle. Look for notes of floral noble hops and lemon zest with a faint flutter of apricot. Cheers!
