Balcones Distilling

Exchange is our newest Barrel-aged release and was brewed in collaboration with The Pint Exchange back in June of 2021. The beer is an Imperial Stout brewed with molasses and aged for 15 months in Balcones Rum and Bourbon barrels. Historically we've been hesitant to include an adjunct (such as honey or vanilla) until after fermentation and aging so that we could see where the beer was going before enhancing a specific aspect of the (almost) finished beer but for this release, we decided on a direction on day one and stuck with it by playing with molasses and spirit flavors through and through. Look for rich notes of molasses cookies and coconut macaroons punctuated with a subtle barrel tannin from the extended aging.
