With all the fruitiness of smoothie-styled ale but none of the gluten, Supernova Goes Pop brings a creamy sweet taste of raspberry and vanilla to the dessert side of the bar.
Supernova Goes Pop pours with a pulpy and cascading layering effects with an overcast of mauve, berry red and pastel pink. As a muddy froth builds on the rim, the nose fills with heavy fruit, cream, candy and tartness. Candied sweetness of taffy, popsicle, sweet cream and french vanilla steer the early palate in a smoothie direction.
Its simple palate rolls along the tongue with much the same one-dimensional taste of raspberry and cream with a clean lactic tartness that reinforces the fruit flavors. A shy attempt at balance happens late when the tartness and berry seed pectins help with the candied raspberry syrup and sugars.
Full bodied, creamy, plump and weighted, the more seltzer-like concoction is tasty, but not a flavor to get when wanting a beer. Like candy for adults, the taste extends with a slightly cidery tartness as its only real reprieve.
