Dated 12/15/25 YOU ONLY GOT ONE CHOICE, into a Xul becher pint.
Pours a hazy dark yellow with fluffy white foam. Aroma is grapefruit and rotten mango. Flavor is very nectarine forward with some orange and grapefruit juice. It's really really juicy and a little green, not a lot of malt at all and lower bitterness. It's got a lovely peach note too but once again rather sweet and juicy with some pith and bitterness on the very back end. The peach and nectarine work quite well, and there's a sugary, almost watery quality to the juiciness that feels like real fruit was added, but I'm finding is kind of inherent to Xul IPAs. I really kind of like it and the sweetness is quite present but contained. I get a little passionfruit as well, but in a fruity sense, not in a funky or bitter sort of way. Even as it warms, it remains a smooth juice bomb. No malt presence whatsoever and I don't taste or feel wheat or oats, if they're at all present. Feel is good, shockingly low body and extremely easy to drink. You could tell me this is an extremely fresh DDH single IPA and I'd be a little skeptical but generally believe there's some wizardry in the hops. No alcohol presence or any sign this is as big as it is with a little warmth being the only warning.
Overall, Xul is really starting to show me why they have such a crazy reputation. I had blown them off a lot, especially after they bought out my beloved Southern Grist, but after some mind-blowing beers at their taproom and the insane quality of the cans I bought, I'm very impressed. This beer is all the best flavors of Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy, and I think it could be thicker, but either way it's a lovely bouqet of interesting juicy hops.
