Altenmunster Brauer Bier GmbH “Landbier”
,5L flip-top brown glass bottle coded “Mindestens haltbar bis Ende: 02.22” and sampled on 24.09.21.
€1,25 @ Tomis Supermarkt, Bacharach, DE
Look: Clear amber body beneath a full head of white foam. The head retention is great and the lacing rises up in thin streaks and wider splashes.
Smell: Grainy and lightly sweetish malt with a little bit of herbal hop in the background.
Taste: A richer and more complex maltiness than usual, but nothing overt. It suggests light caramel but at the same time I don’t believe that any caramel malt has been used. It is a little biscuity. The hops are a little more floral than the aroma suggests, but remain basically herbal, and still quite mild. A firm bitterness balances it and it finishes mostly dry.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: An interesting change of pace for those who normally drink helles or Pils.
