19.2 ounce can, best by date of 01/21/22 stamped on the bottom of the can. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a somewhat clear dark golden color with about an inch off-white head that stuck around a while. Small amount of lacing. The brew smells like bready malt and a bit of floral/earthy hops. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some light honey sweetness noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. For what it is, it's not a bad brew at all. Wouldn't mind drinking one of these on a hot day!

1 PINT 3.2 FL OZ can
Served in a Cleveland Browns imperial nonic glass

This beer pours amber with a slight haze. It is topped with a heaping tan head that leaves nice lacing.

The aroma is floral with a berry smell. Pale malt aroma.

Light berry flavor. Grassy hops flavor. Cracker.

Light bodied with a dryish mouthfeel

Easy drinking blonde ale. Nothing special about it, but it is well made.

Blur the lines between an American non light macro (budweiser, coors banquet) and a German pilsener leaning heavily towards the macro side.

How to rate this? If im at a bar and its the usual suspects (yuengling, bud light, blue moon) im taking this all day.

Poured from a bottle. Golden in color with a white head. Smells of biscuit, malt and honey. Taste follows the smell. Crisp and bright with good flavor. Nice beer

Deer Slayer from Contra Brewing. Purchased on 16/9/21 from Stop ‘N’ Rob outside Oneonta, NY. 19.2 oz can in cooler at the store, stored at hotel in reefer overnight. Reviewed 17/9/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Marked on rear label “BEST BY 081521” (I think). Served at 47.5 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.5 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), clear.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), slight haze. When rear-lite, same with effervescence.
Head – Large (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), white, high density, average retention, diminishing to a 0.3 cm crown and a thin complete cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 2 – Has the stench of a mass-produced European AAL initially but that fades somewhat as it breathes, i.e., starts out skunky but that fades a bit.
Flavor – 3 – Begins slightly sweet with a hint of malt, no hops, no yeast. No ethanol (5.2 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.25 – Medium, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 2.75 When the palate is the high point of the beer, that says a lot. The can label and name is a nice local link to James Fenimore Cooper.

neither the bottle nor the website say what style Deerslayer is, but a press release called it a Blonde Ale so I'm rating it as that. Bottled 02/23/21
L: Amber gold with a tall white head that quickly dissolves into a ring and islands
S: like a faint wet dog, not pleasant at all
T: sweet malts, a little lemon peel, nothing offensive, but nothing that makes you want more
F: sticky across the tongue with a mild citrus bite and a fairly dry and clean swallow
O: not the worse beer I've ever had, but a poor excuse for a blonde ale. Deerslayer feels like a sweeter and thicker Budweiser. If this was supposed to be an AAL I would have given it about 1/2 point more on everything except smell.
This is not a good beer for anyone who actually appreciates beer, but it would be a suitable substitute for someone who wants a heavier NY Bud.

Poured from a 19oz stovepipe purchased in Greenwich, NY. Not sure about the Latvian version?

Pours golden yellow with little to no foamy head. Sweet malt with no hoppy bitterness. Decent.
