Black Night Sighs made its debut on Black Monday 2021 making it the first stout release for the Hidden Hand Brewing project. At that time, and being the steward that he is, Head Brewer JP Vander Veen filled up a select few freshly emptied bourbon barrels with this big, chewy, toasted coconut and vanilla behemoth and laid them to rest.
The debut stout from the Hidden Hand awakes from an 11 month bourbon barrel slumber to soar through the endless oaked vanilla and toasted coconut skies.

Pours a shiny, bright black color. Moderately viscous and oily. Thin, weak head.
Aroma has notes of vanilla, coconut, and chocolate with notes of roasted malts, and hints of oak and bourbon.
Taste follows the nose with notes of bourbon soaked chocolate, maple, vanilla, coconut, Underlying notes of oak, bourbon and brown sugar come through. It is rather sweet, but barely avoids becoming too sweet. A touch of heat is noted towards the back end.
Feel is medium to full bodied. Smooth, warming, moderately carbonated.
Overall it is a very tasty barrel aged pastry stout. The barrel is more complimentary here than the star, but it works well. very nice beer.
