On tap at the brewery.
L: SRM 39 Pours mainly black with dark mahogany edges, low carbo, a thin creamy off white head that recedes to med-thick edge foam, slippery medium spotty lacing.
S: Darkly toasted grains, char, a note of dark chocolate, raisins, dark fruits.
T: Taste follows aroma plus a plum note, black bread, a sweetness from molasses and dark fruits and it has a very light hop bite towards the front.
F: Smooth, chewy, heavy bodied feel with a medium-long lightly dry finish.
O: This drinks like an 8% beer and not a 12%. Wow. No alcohol taste whatsoever. It is fairly balanced but leans mildly sweet. It drinks easily and has very good flavor and feel overall. As a basic American Imp Stout it is very good to excellent in its style.

I am trying this beer off the tapper as part of a six sample "sword flight" whilst traveling through on my way up to Dryden for my son's exhibition SIJHL hockey games. The beer is very good with heavy roast and hints of chocolate.

16oz can. Stamped on bottom is '1212323'. What is this stamping trying to convey?
Black colored body. Brief dark tan head. No lacing.
Aroma is faint, but there is some chocolate and molasses.
Taste is awkwardly sweet, in relation to the burnt molasses and coffee flavors. Some layers of chocolate mix in. The sweet and bitter do not mesh well, including in the aftertaste.
Thicker than medium mouth feel. Okay carbonation.
Odd mix of sweet with the bitter leads to an experience close to a puke curdle. Higher ABV% is well hidden.

Picked up in Superior, WI. A 16oz can with some sort of code on the bottom which I assume is some sort of Julian code. Just put a proper date on the can FCS!. Black as ink with a large mocha head. Aroma and flavor is more chocolate than roasted and coffee. Sweet overall with limited character. No alcohol heat or flavor. I did not know that barbarians had such sweet tooth's. Should of been called Tooth Fairy as all it needs is some sort of BS adjunct. Big body and excellently carbonated. I was hoping for Minnesota's version of Expedition or Founder's IS, but this is yet another too sweet beer.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of fluffy foam. It left sticky patches of lace on the glass. It smelled of burnt molasses, dark chocolate, toffee and caramel maltiness. Big coffee taste with chocolate, molasses and sweet caramel.

Pours black as night. Almost no head. Thick lacing matches the mouthfeel. Cocoa, roasted coffee. Hides 12% very well. Too well? 2021 GABF silver medal for imperial stout.

Pours a thick, chewy, almost jet black, tan head and some nice lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, licorice, and some dark fruit.
Taste of coffee, roasted malts, toffee.
It's a big, thick, chewy beer.
Probably shoulda bought more.
