Pours a relatively clear copper amber color with a moderately large foam cap head. The head shows average retention yet yields a nice ring of leggings that cling to the glass. A bit on the dark side for the style but nice looking.
The nose opens with holiday like spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. There are also aromas of dark baked bread, bubblegum dark fruit, plum, dates, raisins and fig.
The taste opens on the sweet side, dark bread, dark fruit with a touch of alcohol phenols in the finish. The cinnamon and nutmeg are prominent throughout but never overwhelming. The palate soon dries up, aiding drinkability and highlighting spices interacting with the malt.
Medium to full bodied, with the touch of alcohol adding a lightness to the mouthfeel, the spices balancing the malt. The finish becomes increasingly dry and with a touch of citrus rind and hops bitterness.
An interesting BSPA that is on the darker and spicy side.

A: The beer is clear dark golden yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving a thin film of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass. The bubbles on the surface eventually faded away.
S: Moderate aromas of Belgian yeast are present in the nose along with some hints of spices.
T: The taste follows the smell, but has additional notes of nutmeg.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Notwithstanding the muted flavors of nutmeg, this is a pretty solid Belgian Strong Pale Ale. It does a good job at hiding the alcohol from the taste.
