A: The beer is brownish red when viewed from afar and clear red when held up to a bright light with a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that quickly died down, leaving just a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of sweet, dark fruits such as cherries and raisins are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark fruits along with notes of toffee and hints of molasses. There are faint bits of alcohol.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is some warmth from the alcohol in the mouthfeel.
O: This beer was pleasant to sip but I didn't really get any flavors of bourbon or vanilla from the barrel aging—instead it was a lot fruitier than I expected. The beer did a very good job at masking nearly all of the alcohol from the taste (except for the bourbon of course).
