Pours clear and maroon colored until the dregs turn it murky. The fuscia froth is shallow and short lived, leaving no lace on a Pretentious Beer Glass Company dimpled mug.
Blackberries and raspberries are strong in the aroma. Musty notes follow and the background is reminiscent of a bog marsh.
The flavor is dominated by berries. Sadly, they are all muddled together. With some effort, I can pick out raspberry and strawberry as it warms. The finish starts strong, then quickly becomes mild and lingering. Tartness and sweetness exist front to back and in balance.
A medium body with nylon texture and absolutely no awareness of any alcohol. Carbonation is fine and fizzy as it fills the mouth.
This is a nice, earthy, fruit-forward beer. The ton of berries keep it fresh, much like the juice in a fruit cocktail. I enjoyed it in the shade on a sunny, late-Spring afternoon out back.
