Appearance - The beer was murky brown in color with some streaks, leaning toward black.
Smell - The nose was sweet with notes of leather, dark fruit, and chocolate.
Taste - At the front were notes of prune, coconut, and barrel. The sweet malts were almost chewy. The profile was not overly sweet, and had a nice sense of balance that reflected the style.
Mouthfeel - The body had viscosity, allowing it to linger on a time.
Overall - Well done!

Pours a dense, nearly black with brown edges. A creamy head develops with an aggressive pour, and rings the edge of the glass.
Aroma is a tad shy, but presents faint notes of coconut caramel, Fig Newtons, popsicle stick and sweet malts. Not sure this style of glass is ideal for releasing the beer aromas. Like trying to smell through a straw.
Holy shit, the flavor is off the charts. Crazy coconut candy, black cherry, rich sweet malts, toffee, oak-derived coconut, and a spicy rye finish. It threatens to be too sweet, but the barrel turns up the heat and the spice at the end and keeps it in check. I don’t know what else I would want in a barrel-aged barleywine. It’s unreal good.
