Pours a barleywine-ish, opaque brown with an off-white head with good retention. Stays thicker along the edge of the glass, but thinning out as it gets to the middle.
Molasses is very prominent in the aroma. It’s dark brown sugar, slight coconut, faint gingerbread.
This is so insanely subtle. For a big beer brewed with molasses, its sweetness is so well hidden. Tons of coconut, burnt sugar, oaky cherry, candied orange peel and a dry tannic finish.
Very unique. Not like barleywine at all. Impressed with the restraint. The sweetness on this could have really gotten out of control, and it all melds so well together.
